September 13, 2004 - Recommended Reporting Improvements by M. Faria, Product Rating: 3/5: I have been working with Patchlink for a while and think it is a great product however the reporting needs to be much improved. I need to select my own criteria for reporting and as a result I have had to export the data into Excel, manipulate it and then produce useful graphs using Excel which can be time consuming and tedious.

Another thing that should be improved is having subgroups in the Groups section or utilize AD....

How can you say that Patchlink is the best. Any VA Scanner is not the best!!! A good product would have its the history of the machine stored into a database so when assessment time came and the machine was offline the database would still have the history of the machine and know that if it needed it yesterday or last week then it is going to need it today.

VA scanners need to go and hit each machine. If the machine is not online then you do not get accurate results thus making the trouble ticket remain open even longer.

I have worked with ECM/SUM from Configuresoft. It holds everyhting into a central configuration database and when a new patch comes out. I can assess my enviorment within minutes not days. I can then accuratly deploy the patches to the machines that need them. Allowing me to close out the trouble ticket in a day or two.

ECM is about the ame price on a workstation as Shavlik or Patchlink and is a little bit more on a server.

But look at it this way. Were you effected by Blaster? How much downtime did you experience. Downtime=MONEY. I bet it was a lot less then ECM would have cost in your enviroment.
January 8, 2004 - PatchLink is a good product. by Jay Weaver, Product Rating: 5/5: I have spent the past 4 months evaluating several patch management solution. I started with PatchLink and then evaluated 4 other products from other vendors. I then went back to Patchlink and re-evaluated once more to be sure this was my solution to use on my network. This is a good product and works well.
December 13, 2003 - PatchLink cross platform! by Michael O'Grady, Product Rating: 5/5: I went through a PatchLink reseller and got excellent service. Sorry A Tech you were disappointed with PatchLink service next time try a reseller it is a far superior product to the others - we did a lengthy eval!
October 27, 2003 - No Support and Sales are full of hot air by A Tech, Product Rating: 1/5: It all started with their sales person promissing functionality that they cannot deliver. Then after purchasing, their tech support was not responsive. I think they are a company that their success went over their head.
September 11, 2003 - This is a solution worth looking into! by J. Oehlong,: I have been working in IT security for over 15 years and have worked with and done extensive research into Patch Management Solutions from the big companies to the small. To make a long story short, I would be happy to tell anyone that PatchLink is by far the best solution across the board. It is easy to deploy, it works with all platforms, it is easy to get reports from the GUI to management on the fly. There are so many things that I and my IT staff can do with this solution that has made the network that I am in charge of free of holes, and it's patch compliant. I now can sleep at night! In any case it has turned our IT staff into a much more efficent group where we can focus on growth and performance as oppose to trying to keep up with the never ending process of patching 27,000 devices. So I have to give the PatchLink product a 10+ out of 10. In addition it is very inexpensive.
