Based on a very important customer request, I've created a script to populate the Web Browser "Direct Access" table for ISA 2004.
The short story is that by default, a browser that is set for "auto-detection" or "configuration URL" doesn't get the IP list that is associated with the network object where it connects to the ISA web proxy.
This makes for a lot of noise and unnecessary "bounce routes" when the client incorrectly uses ISA to connect to internal resources. This behavior is not to be confused with the necessity for split-DNS; that's been done to death at www.isaserver.org and frankly, is outside the scope of a script.
To use the script, copy it to an ISA 2004 server and execute it as:
cscript copylattowebproxy.js.
· No help (yet)
· No logging (yet)
It will enumerate all the arrays and the networks they contain. Within each network, if web proxy clients are enabled, it will copy the IP list from the network addresses to the "direct Access" address set.
When it completes, the Direct Access table in the network object Web Browser tab should contain the same IP list as is associated with that network object, with one exception - 127.0.0.0 - 127.255.255.255 will also exist.
It should function equally well in ISA 2004 EE and SE, but does not operate in ISA 2000 (yet).
